Young Professionals Benefit from Mentoring

I was flipping through my September issue of Columbus C.E.O magazine last week when I came across this article “Young Professionals Reap Benefits from Cross-Generational Mentoring” by Larry L. Lanham II.
Frankly, I couldn’t have said it better myself, Mr. Lanham.
Lanham wrote “ The tragedy is that a number of seasoned professionals are open to the idea and regularly interact with young professionals, but they have yet to find one who is a good match or who stand out as being worthy of their attention and commitment. Finding a good match may require patience. As for standing out, there is something to be said for the idea that mentees have a significant role to play. Perhaps the key is that young professionals should endeavor to make themselves into more worthy protégés.”
This is one of the main reasons the Capital Club developed the Ladder Society. We saw the need for mentoring relationships happening in our club from both directions. Young Executives who needed some help in building their executive presence and networking up into the careers they hope to have in five to ten years. In addition, Executive’s looking to build relationships, share their knowledge and experience, and hopefully find or build their predecessors before they retire or move into new roles.
Voila, an idea was born which would eventually become the Capital Club Ladder Society.
